Bomber Cookies

My second year at Ozark Bible College, I hung out with two very special friends–Bomber and Chicken. When anyone went home to visit and brought goodies back so we wouldn’t waste away (choke) we always shared.

One of the things I really looked forward to was when Bomber brought back her “No Bake” Cookies.

Most people have made these cookies, and those who haven’t made them have at least eaten them. But not many know their real name. Bomber Cookies!

Bomber’s real name was Karen (she’s named after the Kansas City Bombers) but we didn’t dare call her that, because if you did you were in big trouble!

Bomber was one of those crazy, outgoing people who everyone loved. She was always up to do anything that would get us in trouble. 😉

She made her cookies small and thin and delicious! The time she brought back a can of new potato chips (Kokomo, Indiana, where she was from, was a test market for Pringles) we thought we’d found heaven on earth!

Here’s Bomber’s recipe:

2 C sugar
1 stick butter
1/2 C milk
1/4 C plus 1 T cocoa
dash of salt

In a sauce pan, mix together cocoa and sugar, add milk–then butter. Boil for 3 minutes.

At 228 to 230 degrees add:
1 t vanilla
1/4 C peanut butter
5 C oats
1/2 C chopped nuts

Drop by teaspoonful before it gets hard in the pan. 🙂

Makes 4 dozen 2″ cookies or 3 dozen larger ones.

You can see how well used (and loved!) this recipe has been because it’s GOOD!

Bomber was right. YUM! YUM!
