Still playing make believe.

Thanksgiving-ness

Rather than a day late and a dollar short, I’m gonna do this a day early.

At church this month, we’ve been blessed by having different women tell us what they’re thankful for. Each one has been thankful for Jesus, family and friends and most of them talked about that as well as other things in their lives.

I’m thankful, too. But as usual, I’m weird. (Maybe why I wasn’t invited to talk about it.)

I’m thankful I was born in a country where I didn’t have to wear a veil and be covered head to foot. Where I’m “allowed” to speak my mind and go and do and act pretty much the way I want. (Because knowing me, I was going to anyway, and this way I get to live through it.)

I’m thankful this is a country where I can talk about God (or not) and I don’t have to worry that my front door will be kicked in for it. Where I’m not risking my life when I share Jesus.

I’m thankful God gave us the Internet and Facebook so I can catch up with friends I haven’t seen (and sometimes didn’t know).

I’m thankful for imagination. (Read it again. Yes. I’m thankful for the gift of imagination. It’s a biggie in my life.)

I’m thankful I have a job to go to and a story to write and a place that’s dry and warm (a little bit, anyway) to do it.

Did I mention I’m thankful for God and family and friends? I am.

What weird things (or not so weird things) are you thankful for this year?

For as long as I can remember, I've loved two things--reading and people--and that led me to become a writer. Many of my stories are set in Small Town Worlds. I'm a wife, mother, sibling and an aunt. I have a deep faith in God, and an exciting life in Christ. Maybe I shouldn't be (after all, he's God!) but I'm constantly amazed at the things He's up to. :)

  2. I’m thankful that we have a special day to be thankful….it makes all of us stop and think about all our blessings.

I'm so glad you dropped by my Small Town World! Hope you'll leave a comment. I really enjoy hearing from you!
