Still playing make believe.

E-L-E-V-E-N SSMTs! (Count ‘Em)

Did you see I have a new SSMT posted? #4 chose this one, and I’m loving it. I  put it there from memory. (You probably should check and see if I got it right. Let me know if I made a mistake.)

This is the 11th verse my ♥ sister ♥ and I have committed to memory this year. That’s the sister who lives out-of-state. We both committed to do the Beth Moore SSMT thing, then found out the other was doing it. One of those Weird God Things my preacher talks about. 🙂

Do I have all eleven verses firmly fixed in my head/heart? No, I don’t. Some are a little hazy, and some have escaped me altogether. But a few are there, sitting tight, waiting to leap to mind when I need them. I think this verse will be one of those.

I used to be able to memorize very easily. When I was in 6th grade, I was the narrator for the Christmas play at school, and had to memorize the Christmas story in Luke 2. (I’m lucky enough to remember when we had Bibles in school–and used them!)

Here’s the current SSMT–

“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ who blessed us in the heavenly realm with every spiritual blessing in Christ.” Eph. 1:3.

Number Four chose this verse in case you’re wondering. (She finds the best ones!) And I’m jumping up and down because I think I have it memorized. (Not literally. Jumping up and down is bad on the new hip.)

But every time I go over it in my head, a question mark pops up in my head. What specifically is Paul referring to when he says, “every spiritual blessing”?

I looked up spiritual blessing in the back of my Bible (I love the Helps back there) but the closest I could get was spiritual gifts.

Is ‘gift’ synonymous with ‘blessing’? Or fruit?

I’d appreciate your opinion on this one.

For as long as I can remember, I've loved two things--reading and people--and that led me to become a writer. Many of my stories are set in Small Town Worlds. I'm a wife, mother, sibling and an aunt. I have a deep faith in God, and an exciting life in Christ. Maybe I shouldn't be (after all, he's God!) but I'm constantly amazed at the things He's up to. :)

I'm so glad you dropped by my Small Town World! Hope you'll leave a comment. I really enjoy hearing from you!
